Not Bad (for a Brit film)
It lacked the polished quality of the big studios but, all in all, not bad considering it comes from a people who toast their bread on only one side.

[Puts hand up] - I used to have one-sided toast. And Im not a ponce. Done in front of the fire on the end of a fork, havent done this since we could afford toasters though.
On Brit films: Good ones are few and far between these days unfortunately, and yeah - they do seem to come in two flavours, possibly 3 if you count the Notting Hill/4 Weddings types. "This is England" is a gem, but *beep* its a sad reflection of a Britain I remember well from the 80s. Still love the Ealing comedies though, I can watch Ladykillers annually. And the original Italian job still rocks.
Sure Hollywood creates a lot of *beep* flicks, but at the very least the law of averages means we get quite a few classics too - and long may it continue. In fact heres a deal: stop with the rewriting of history and you can have the lot AFAIC.
Im about to watch the bank job now....
Clearly a lot more good stuff comes out of the US, but then far more films are made there.
I don't think we do bad considering and I think 'The Statham' acts alot better in English films, (probably just suit his character better).
I've never considered the line in Sting's (another good Brit Flick with him in Lock Stock) song before, but bread toasted on one side would be weird :)
She's gone, baby. Gone!
what was the name of the song the people in the funeral wer singing at the end of the movie ??
shareWell deb... thanks for the not so subtle pinch of condescension, the little people on this side of the pond are all so pleased that for once we were able to produce an ok film - gee thanks!
I'm just delighted that hte big studios didn't get anywhere near the film, a surefire way of stuffing it up completely.
Usually when I watch a film from the UK, I notice the lack of polish but this time I did not. I thought it was very well made.
shareProduction value doesn't make a film. Some of the best films have next to no production value, like 28 days later.
share"who toast their bread on only one side."
One of the funniest things I have read on here.
The Poms don't need to 'polish' their films because they tend not to be turds
I suspect the problem is that you have too many paperclips up your nose
