this movie sucks

i saw this in high school and thought it was pretty good. watched it again now and noticed it had a 5 rating on imdb. i thought there's no way that's true. then i watched it and they're right. there are so many stupid events in this movie but one stands out. when tom sizemore is about to get eaten by the bugs, he sets on fire what looks like it could've been a 500km wide area, possibly 1000km. their entire mission was to get algae to grow on mars, they've succeeded and this guy proceeds to burn off a massive area of them just to get back at the bugs? wtf? then val kilmer at the end talks about how much he hates mars. i mean really val? it's literally humanities last hope. oh and of course before sizesmore burns the entire thing, kilmer says he hasnt seen a green pasture since he was a kid or something.
