You can't compare the old series to the new. When the original was made it was great Sci-Fi for the time. It pushed the envelope on what people expected from a series of its type at the time, that is why we still love it so. Guess what, I watch the original Star Trek and it looks campy by today's standards as well!

That being said, I will also say that the new series is good TV by todays standards. I just think that they should have change the few things that it actually has in common with the original and named it something else, that way we could have had a completely new product to faun over, and maybe the original story could have continued using the techniques that we have developed now to make it even better.

Anyway that is my 2 yen.

Oh and the guy that said that Battlestar was a rip of of Star Wars, ARE YOU ON CRACK! Except for the fact that they were both set in space what did the two have in common? Fox even admits that the lawsuit that they filled in 78 was just to get Star Wars some more publicity (They dropped the suit after the headlines stopped).

I think its frakin funny to go back and read all the early comments about how the reimagined series should and will fail, how horrible it is, etc. And here we are, in 2008, and its still considered one of the most successful sci fi series to date, and one of the best. I just wish the producers didnt decide to end it now. but i guess its best to go out now, instead of burning out.

Agreed :D I've gotta say though, although I now really want to see TOS (love the new one :) It was only one season... I can understand someone getting mad about a remake of the X-files, Quantum Leap, or TOS Star Trek, all of which did very well! But TOS BG was canceled after one season. That doesn't mean it's bad, I would say a lot of times that means it's good lol (Jericho!) This new BG is a re-imagining of something that could have been! How cool is that!

Yes he's a hypocrite because he doesn't like it and prefers the original...

I agree mwengler I hope it dies a quick death and Universe give back the rights to the TV to Glen A Larson who created Battlestar Galactica.

or Atleast give him and Hatch the rights to the big screen film and let them make the second comming which would've been far better than this new re-imagined series by Ron "I only did this because I got fired from Star Trek" Moore.

Hatch still very much wants to do a spin off of the original, for all you know Hatch only agreed to be in the new series so he could make some money and try and fund his Battlestar Galactica projects...

The calls signs are just lame, the new Cylons are Terminator Rip Off's, the new Baltar's character is a complete rip off of the character of Julian Bashir in Star Trek DS9, the Camera work is awful, the CGI effects for the ships is lame, wathcing the classic effects from the 1978 series puts the new series effects and budget to shame...

Lets face it the only reason Moores onboard on Galactica is because 1. he was a whiny baby and didn't like the way Star Trek was going and was booted of the show and 2. Tom Desanto got screwed over for his plan to make a spin off of the original by Universal.

Kinda like how Glen A Larson got screwed over by them when the cancelled the original after one season.

If anyone is a hypocrite it's universal for giving the finger to the fans of the original with this laughable attempt at a new show.

Hopefully it's cancelled in it's first season, wouldn't that be ironic...

Soon Adama, soon - Baltar.

Boy, this guy should upset to see the show spanned four seasons and will end with a definite conclusion, while the original didn't, four years after he wrote this post.

Even better, is this one, with all those anti Sci-fi channel and Anti-New BSG petition forms made at the time of the miniseries.

Well according to the star of the production:

"There's no two ways around it," Olmos said. "If I were a purist, I wouldn't watch it. Don't waste your time. Get the old version on DVD. Don't hurt yourself. Don't go through the pain."

- Edward James Olmos
