Funniest Charachter? - The League of Gentlemen (2000) Discussion

I think all the characters are so different it's hard to pinpoint one exact.

An obvious favourite of mine (hence the quote) is Geoff Tipps. I think he's hilarious! Especially in series 3 and i really enjoyed his storyline. I also think he's a very "real" character and know a lot of 40-something year old men who have similar characteristics as him.

Also, i love Edward and Tubbs, Pauline, Hillary Briss and Charlie.

So many different characters to mention, so little time!

Pauline and Mickey are some of the funniest.... "Get him off me Mickey luv!"

Herr Lip is classic too... "Hope you have a real good treat, mmmm" ... "You saved my life Dieter, (whispers) I will never forgive you."

These are just a few though, all of the characters are brilliant in their own way.

Geoff Tips... "Tell him that one about the Maumau" ... "finish it, please"
"You know I've got this gun don't you, yeah we're all listening now... now he's gonna tell this joke, and we're all gonna laugh!!"

Completely agree. Geoff is hilarious, especially in his best man speech ''Is she happy Brian?''.

And in Series 3

''I have to let someone go'' (obviously about to tell Geoff he's being fired).

''NO! You can't break up the team... shall I tell him? (about Brian)''

Yeah its funny that now watching them for the first since they first aired a decade ago i notice how many characters popped in for one or two episodes.
Those two were pretty funny.

I have to say Pauline though. Such a vindictive b---h, its painful to watch.

I love the show but I never thought Pam Doove was that funny. All she does is shout some gibberish over and over. Maybe I'm missing some big obvious point but could anyone tell me what makes Pam Doove so funny.

It's hard to nail down just one character, so I'll choose one from each actor.

Reece - Definitely Geoff Tipps. A man bitter & twisted from a lifetime of failure, with no social barometer whatsoever. A brilliant portrayal of one of life's true losers. "wait a minute... you're not wearing a wire are you?"

Mark - Mick the cave guide, he plays the lifeless, routine weary but haunted guide to perfection. "In 1974 you couldn't move down here for Cybermen. In fact, in an amusing incident, Tom Baker sprained his ankle on that rock theeere". The deadpan delivery is outstanding.

Steve - Charlie Hull, the long suffering husband of Stella. Despite the constant bickering and the flaunting of adultery from Stella, Steve plays the suppressed broken heart of Charlie so well, you actually feel for the character. "Alright! Here’s your question then, you stupid TW*T!... Stella… do you still love me?"

funniest is probably the vicar haha
I also love Ollie

creepiest character is papa lazarou and Edward - scares the crap out of me.

hottest character - Benjamin but I do admit steve pemberton is hot in the Christmas episode where he plays herr lip abnd his robe opens :-)

I also think Steve is hot as the advertising guy - the wig and look really suits him.

All mentioned thus far are great. I'll also add Les McQueen. His story has a bittersweet, sad undercurrent to it, which makes it all the funnier. :-)
