Enjoyable.

No, it doesn't follow the book (yawn) I get so tired of hearing that argument. No it doesn't follow the 1980 something movie...thank heavens.

I throughly enjoyed this the second time around. I remember seeing it when it first aired and am so glad I rediscovered this. Richard E. Grant is an absolute delight. Elizabeth was lovely.

When I think of the Pimpernel I will think of Richard and that lovely grin of his.

It’s good to dream

I thought Richard E Grant made a *much* better Pimpernel than po-faced Anthony Andrews!

Granted Richard E. Grant made the role a marvel to watch, the characterisation I liked best was Ronan Vibert's Robespierre. He played the sinister so well, despite the dandification of his dress in series 1, and then in the finale his performance was truly spectacular as he faced down his ambitious subordinate while contemplating the rescue of his love-child.

Managed to obtain the box set on DVD and it still holds up very well.

Hurrah1

I enjoy him as well and prefer him over Andrews. There's a boyish cockiness about him yet he could also come across as cold. You buy that he could be heroic or have a secret side. While Andrews is too effeminate to pull it off. His deliveries are also hilarious. I wish he did more seasons.
