Bad Ending

I like the idea of the movie and thought the acting was spot on, however, the ending just seems thrown together. They built the movie with a solid foundation and the right side stories but then it was like as if they called it a day and just slapped on an ending. I wouldn't even call it an ending, I mean what happened to the employees at JT Marlin? What happened to Abbie? Chris? Seth? Harry?

They never explained how much the employees actually knew about the corruption either so it makes the fact that they are all going to be arrested a little uneasy. Yes, they were scumbags, but never did they hint that they were hiding something except for the main guy. There wasn't even that line in the movie you usually get like in Margin Call where they say something along the lines of "its kill or be killed" in terms of greed. Not even Ben Afflecks character hinted at corruption, he sounded like your typical stock broker with his speeches.

I thought it was a good movie up to the last 15 minutes when it felt rushed to end it, and it left me wanting more from the movie. I guess to me it wasn't so much of a bad ending as it was lacking an ending.

I would speculate the Employees were all rounded up for what they knew. Even the FBI guy knew the crop of new recruits were pretty much dumb as nails so they probably didn't expect much from them.

The people they will more likely than not squeeze is the leaders of the bunch. The main guy & Chris, Greg etc. Harry got conned so he would probably be OK.

They are probably pretty pissed at Abbie right now. They'll probably grab her head and bang it against the counter a few times and after that she'll given them the phone number and address of everybody she's had sex with along with everything she knows about JT Marlin. She probably has the most of all to lose. As she and her grandmother are dependent on her salary.

Chris for example, still lives with his mom so if he doesn't go to Jail he at least has a place to stay.

Abbie doesn't have jack squat. If she goes to Jail her grand mother is screwed and her son who we never see. If she doesn't then has has to make up for 80k a year which she can't. Abbie is going to have it bad either way and the FBI is going to use that knowledge to squeeze the very life out of her before its all said and done.

The ending does leave a lot unanswered but the ending they gave us did what it was suppose to do. At the end of the day, we're not suppose to know everything.

I was going to make a thread about the same topic, but decided to look through the comments because I was positive that someone would have made it first.
The ending to this movie is just atrocious.. Its just shameful really. The ruined what could have been a great movie by throwing together a ridiculous ending that made you say to yourself "WTF".
This is actually one of my favorite movies, despite the ending. I pretend the ending doesn't even exist. It was clearly rushed to meet either a budget, or a time restraint. I've seen plenty of rushed endings to movies I liked, but none that are as apparent as this one.
Anyone have idea of a better ending?

Cindy, don't just stare at it, EAT IT.

I don't have a problem with the ending. What were they supposed to do? Follow them all to the jailhouse? Show Greg and Chris and Michael and Abbie taken to court and later tried for stock swindling? Show Harry try to get his family back with his replenished nest egg? You're looking at another 30 or 40 minutes there, which they simply don't have for movies like this. Anyway, we know that's what happened. We don't need it all spelled out for us. It's much more compelling see main character Seth, despite all his success, now back where he started. Actually, he's now worse off because he doesn't even have the casino to fall back on anymore. This is the tragic fall.

If you disagree, well, so be it.

You probably didn't like the Sopranos ending either.
