Mexican storyline

Why is it filmed so poorly? The footage looks yellow and very unclear.

One scene still puzzles me. The scene where the assassins pick up Manolo at the street cafe, then handcuff in the backseat. When Manolo gets put in the car, Javier is already in there handcuffed. What happened here?

- Did the assasins tail Javier who was on his way to stop Manolo from spilling the beans to the DEA?

- Or, did Javier betray Manolo and tell the assasins where to find him, as part of an overall effort to protect the underlying investigation?

I am guessing the first explanation since Javier is a good guy character, but there is no scene which sets it up.

" Soderbergh operated the camera himself and adopted a distinctive color grade for each storyline so that audiences could tell them apart."

Thanks. That is interesting.

Any answers for the other questions?

Javier and Manolo were partners. Once Manolo was discovered to be a snitch they immediately snatched up Javier, for the obvious reason being partners tend to work together, especially when it comes to making money or selling out the general whatshisname for money.
Outside of that, the assassins spelled it out after they wacked Manola, it was a test and/or initiation of sorts.
