Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the idea that this is and was the best game ever made on the PS1. I do think so, due to the fact of it's amazing graphics, innovative style of gameplay and control accompanied by an involving storyline, great characters and voice acting and of course some of the most memorable scenes and quotes in games console history.
If not, what other contenders could there be?

Just the reasons I think this game is the very best game ever made. Final Fantasy VII makes a solid 2nd place (both for PS1 and all-time).
3. Tomb Raider III
4. Ape Escape (if you think it's a stupid choice, you haven't played it)
5. Vagrant Story

my personal favorite video game ever is The Legend of Dragoon. I love that game way too much
I've only played MGS once and i only beat the first disk (seeing as its the only one i had at my disposal) It was very good. Like, VERY good.
the first silent hill sucked in my opinion. Mostly because the enemies pissed me off more than scared me. It's like god damnit *beep* enemies just let me through. The sequel was more like oh god please dont have an enemy in there. *static* AAGH

Metal Gear Solid was the best game on PS1 IMO. FFVII is a close second though.
