My take

Too many conversations, and not good ones.

Something was off about Ray Liotta's acting. I dunno, he was overdoing it or something, way too animated and forceful.

Alan's beach buddy's accent was so thick I couldnt understand what he said.

This is a personal call but I cant buy into adultry being painted as 'true' love. It just doesnt compute. Its authenticity is in question from the outset, by definition. So, hence, the affair tainted the story IMO.


It's kinda boring and predictable. Coulda been a lot better. Schrader reveals a lot about himself with every movie, and this is no exception.
