I'm sorry, how is it no one recognized him?

Wouldn't Ray Liotta have said, "hm, this guy looks just like that guy whose face I blew half-off because he had an affair with my wife. And look, this guy had half his face blown off, too! What a coincidence."

reply

Yeah, really.

Just one reason why I thought this movie was a total waste of 2 hours.

This was, to me, the most egregious error in a film filled with them. HOW could the Gretchen Mol character and/or the Ray Liotta character NOT recognize this guy? Okay, so one side of his face was disfigured (the make up job was not good, either), but he clearly looked the same. The goatee did nothing to disguise his facial characteristics, and neither did the disfigurement. He was easily recognizable. I'm glad I didn't have to pay $$ to see this loser. At any rate, it was a waste of about 2 hrs. time. Very poor directing...

mmm i think that 13 years have passed so they have forget him

i love this movie because it is a very good love story and i am a romantic men so

reply

ummmmm....it could be 50 yrs, you would remember if you shot someone...watching it now and it isn't too good.

reply

You all need to pay better attention, Ray didn't shoot him he hired someone to do it. So it's really not strange Ray doesn't recognize him. And the wife thought he was dead she wasn't thinking that was him still not strange.

reply

The tanning bed guy "Rick" was the one who shot Alan.

reply

Yes exactly. Ray's character wasn't the one that shot him, so he wouldn't know where he was shot and that part of his face was blown off. Besides both him and his wife thought he was dead and since many years have passed, they wouldn't exactly be thinking about him. And I think that he did look different and I believe he was also talking with an accent that he did not have before.

reply

Exactly. Ridiculous.

Even if the husband couldn't, she obviously would've immediately.

reply

I figured he would have forgotten because it was just another one of his victims. Probably a string of faceless people he did sh!t to but I couldn't understand how she didn't recognize him. She was madly in love with the guy and I don't think she would have ever forgotten what he looked like.

Should've been retitled Forever Idiots!

I think what put his disguise over the top was his *perfect* Spanish accent. Sure, they may have recognized his face, but he baffled everybody with that convincing Venezuelan Senor Esquema act. LOL!
