Sadako vs Samara

Who do you think is creepier?

I'm going with Sadako and I'm not just going for her because I hate the American remake.

I'm going for her because Sadako has this creepy presence around her. The way she just climbs out of well and out of TV is just so damn scary. When she came out of the TV I was backing away from my OWN TV! lol true story. Sadako doesn't have to do much to scare the crap out of you!

Samara? Well she's just a little girl and there's nothing scary about a little girl with long hair is there?

I have to admit, when I was watching the US version and they showed the famous television scene, i found that pretty scary. But i thought that was the only scary bit in the US version. I thought the rest of it was plain crap.

Samara, because the backstory of Sadako made her feel less like a force of nature and more like the ghost of Carrie (but the sequels and prequels hurt both films, though some are of alternate continuity including the remake sequel). There were also more scare/haunting scenes based around her and the mania and curse felt stronger and more widespread. It's all about story. The zombie look of ghost Samara was weaker than that of ghost Sadako though, and the dismissal of the scariness of the tape by the boyfriend in the remake was a bad choice.

Sadako by far. Her hair were hiding her face - you can only see her eye - and that made it way more creepy.

Lets face it, the "original story" there is no such thing, the book is WAY different than both movies, so, every movie counts just for itself.

The american version IS better.

The sequels both american and japanese sucked.

Yes, Samara is cute, but that makes her even more scary, she is just evil.

ONE WORD. SADAKO.

And lets face it, Japanese version is mutch better then the american crap version.

i haven't seen the american one in awhile . it's been a couple years since i saw it( i'm 13 now i saw the american remake pretty soon after it came out on dvd. ) and in that time i've seen a lot more horror movies to the pint where i used to scare alot and super easy but now i'm used to almost any thing any scary movie does and almost nothing scares me now. i just watched ringu 2 yesterday and watched ringu today and neither scare me at all. i recently bought the ring (american) with a nother movie (if anybody cares it was school of rock and the ring) for 10 dollars total . i haven't watched it yet though. from the last time i watched it , the ring scared the *beep* out of me although like i said i was a little kid . if we're going by scariness , neither because now , they both probably won't scare me(if it it was real i would be scared to death but i know they're not so i'm not scared watching them ). if just preference (which is not going by scariness)then samara by far. and yes as somebody above me said , daveigh's cuteness just made it scarier

reply

The American version IS WORSE.

reply

I agree. I wasn't scared of Japanese Ring. It was just ... slow and ... I do not know ... not bad! But version by Verbinski is better.

Argument: "It's a remake, so it is bad" is just stupid - it's not rule that every remake is bad..

It depends on individual taste, what one comes frightening - for me is winer Samara

reply

Sadako... definitely Sadako.
The scene where she come out of the TV still scares me so much. That, and the fact she doesn't have a sort of little-girly air to her.
Samara just reminds me too much of a younger version of one of my friends and my dad says she looks like me if I became a full-on goth.
Sadako is just terrifying.

reply

Sadako.

Being a mute tends to make one creepier.

Being Lilo from Lilo and Stitch does not.

Sadako definitley.

There's just something so much creepier about her than Samara. I especially love the big murder scene in Ring O, and she's like walking along whilst unbreaking all her bones. Tis creepy as hell

Sadako is obviously scarier. Anyone who prefers the US remake is either an American or a total philistine.

reply

Oh yeah they must be American, just ignore the fact that it was also released in other countries.

Some people count sheep. Doesn't work with AlwaysCool, just gets him excited.

reply

...Why make a topic about this?
How could a crappy, *beep* remake girl be creepier than the original?

Sadako.

I hated the scene where Samara comes out of the tv in a massive light and roomy studio. Not scary at all. The Ring wasn't even remotely scary.

Ringu was really unsettling.
