Your Favourite Sketches

I thought we should have a thread where we can laugh at our favourite sketches from both of the series.

Eldon: "I'll you what, you've gotta force people out of their cars, right, and you do this by doubling the price of petrol..."
...
Heap: "Doubling the price of petrol!?"
...
Davis: "Pollution?!? where we live isn't polluted!"
All: "hahahahaha"
Lineham: " I HATE YOU!"

Excellent idea carried out with brilliant acting.

The tin man sketch. It was such a build up, with the scary music cues and the tin man chasing Mark Heap for no reason. I never saw the punchline coming.

reply

The father teaching his kid to ride a bike. Kid keeps falling over and exploding, etc. "Try not to go on fire."

reply

When Mark Heap is walking through the school thats being torn down and he is dressed up as the old headmaster. He keeps hearing things in his head like "Sir, this is the best school ever", "Your an inspiration sir" etc. But, every now and again a kids voice comes into his head saying "Big Fat Co c ks!"
"Big fat co cks on your head sir"

The way it degenarates more and more is genius.

Or Simon Pegg in the revolutionary prison reading the letter from his sister which is all very lovely then it says about the song they used to sing together which is just gargled noise but all written out on the page. GENIUS!

reply

Why is everyone forgetting the "big train" sketch, the sketch that gave the show its name? That was absolutely hysterical.

"I know this is probably a silly comment, but if the train is bigger, then won't we need a giant hand to push it?"

That's just.. incredible.
I don't know why the original two women left the show - they were really good. Catherine Tate and the other new ladies are great too though.

My other favourites have to be the "Portable Traffic Lights" sketch, and the Ming at home sketch.

With out a dout the top three are
1. Florence Nightingale
2. The Show jumpers
3. The monk and the boobie alarm
My partner dosen't get it but i was in stitches

Alfred Hitchcock's 'The Working Class'

"Someone has been tampering with Hank's memories."

reply

Have to go with these three:

"...but he's a wanker!"

"Oi, are you a duck? Are you a duck? No? Then **** off!"

Finally, the one where they keep coming into the boss' office to get their overtime pay and he keeps distracting them (first with a card trick, then juggling and then with puppies).

reply

Vodka and Orange please...

Can I have a pint???

reply

My absolute favourite, is the Jesus and Satan sketh in the office.

So.

Funny.

And so brilliantly acted.

reply

The first episode where the office manager keeps forgetting to pay his staff and distracts them with card tricks, juggling and then puppies lol. The way his escape is sped up each time is brilliant!

Also, one of absolute favorites is the one where Mark Heap is reunited with his mother...

"We're gonna find out who did this... and we're gonna kill 'em!" - Vic Mackey

reply

Fat-handed twat

The guy who cheats on his girlfriend with a set of traffic lights

Cat & Mouse fight ("Look, don't f*cking start on ME!")

Man who can't open doors

and lots more I can't remember.

reply

mine is the Tin man stalking Mark Eldon ... stupid, but hilarious! .God i love this show. I wonder if they'd ever consider getting back together to make another series, .. or has Simon Pegg outgrown the rest of the cast?

reply

Mark Heap as Ming the merciless living in a mundane english flat.
Doing the hoovering and watching teletubbies.
Hilarious!
or, how about the two monks speaking about nature when one says "Ewww, somebodies thrown a Johnny in the river!"
or, The Artist Formerly Known As Prince stalking jockeys in the desert.
or, the family road trip, the kids arguing in the back seat, the father climbs into the back seat and tells one kid to drive the car while he yells at the other.
or.... i could go on for hours...

"You can always count on a murderer for a fancy prose style..."-
Humbert Humbert-

The 'join the army' sketch was my favourite too, in fact one of the funniest sketches I have ever seen.

Life is just one damned thing after another - Elbert Hubbard

reply

It doesn't matter how much time has passed, the "Florence Nightingale" sketch always makes me laugh. (The Jesus and Satan office sketch...there are just so many).

reply

Perhaps not my favourite, but I did enjoy the "Fat Handed Twat" sketch.

You're just a freak...like ME!

reply

The tin man sketch.

The "If the CEO doesn't like this proposal I'm going to kill myself. Who's with me?" sketch.

Ken Morse the rostrum cameraman.

Morse - "I could go to ITV.."

Greg Dyke (then controller of the BBC)- "Don't be daft!! Those kuntz haven't made a decent documentary since The World At War"

Ming The Merciless at home watching tellytubbys.

The primal scream therapy sketc (You're all idiots. I hate you so much!!!!}

reply

Hands down the Tin Man for me, yeah.

All about Mark's mad stare and clockwork walk, Kevin's desperation and that ominous musical dirge. I don't even think the punchline quite lives up to it, but the rest is just so funny.

That, and the whole "Demons, brother Dominic?" skit.

reply

HA HA HA, YOU CLOWN!!!
I HATE YOU!!!
I HATE YOU!!!
YOU BOLLOX!!!

MAN IS 80% WATER!!

reply

What's that sketch where theres a dinner party and Kevin Eldon is being really really obnoxious and his wife stabs him to death and then everyone carries on talking as if nothing happened

Prince as a wildlife predator

But the winner for me is the 'Mr Chips' sketch.... BIG FAT COKKS!!

'Ziggy Piggy'

reply

Is this the series that had a sketch in it about George Martin?

He just kept waffling on about The Beatles no matter what, even when he got kidnapped in Lebanon and wasn't seen for years, and when he was released he was still talking about the Beatles.

Was quite funny.

I do love the NHS letter mix-up, where Mark Heap is waiting on Cancer test results and ( an alien ) Simon Pegg is waiting on HIS results for something else.

Pegg's character to his wife: " I'm afraid it's very....very...bad news.... "
