what's with the icecubes ?

When Chuck gets rescued he seems to have a glass of icecubes, can anyone please tell me why icecubes and not water?:-)

Because he hasn't seen or felt ice in 4 years.

OK but why doesn't he just put the ice in a drink?

No mystery. The guy brought him a 12 oz. can of Dr. Pepper with a plastic cup of ice. The cup being small, and the Dr. Pepper possibly being warm, the small cup of ice wouldn't have lasted long, hence the second small cup of ice. Quite normal.
