Why did it have to be set in high school?

For a my fair lady lose adaptation why the high school setting? They could have worked the story into adult life. Freddy could have played a business man and Rachel a drug addict that he bet to his work buddies he could turn into a sophisticated woman. Rachel also looked just like Audrey. Could have worked perfectly.
