Marley

I haven't seen this movie, but heard about it only because Marley the Dog acts in it... where's his name on these credits? It's a shame today's odd film industry shuns straight-to-video movies and prevents supposedly decent movies (the reviews on here seem very positive) from being seen, while releasing horrible ones such as those in the box office right now. More and more people are making movies, increasing the indie output... people need to distribute these movies, they really can be a lot better than the huge-budget, pointless studio feats out there. And people wonder why no one goes to the theater anymore... Read "Marley and Me" by John Grogan if you're a dog lover.

I read "Marley and Me" and really want to see the movie just to see Marley's appearance. The movie sounds good, too...but, I can't find it anywhere!!! And where is Marley's credit?

Like many of you here , I came to the website to see Marley's name.

My spouse and I are reading the book. We have a two and half year old yellow lab named Otis. Many of the things in the book could have been written about our dog. Although our dog is starting to show signs of mellowing out a little he's not quite as crazy as Marley seems to be, he does have his moments.

I am going to keep looking for this movie to try and get a peek and the Marley we have all come to know.

I couldn't believe the amount of posters on here that had read Marley and Me. Not to say its a bad book, but because I didn't realise how popular the book actually was. I was just in Wal-Mart one day, and saw the cover. Before moving out with my wife two years ago, I lived at home, and our dog was a yellow lab. Kira is the total opposite of Marley, and when I read in the book that there are two different types of labs, I couldn't believe it. Now I know why Kira is smaller, and more squat in stature than the usual yellow labs that I see. Her tail is more bristlier like a husky, and her nature has always been calm and subdued, even as a puppy. Now I know why. She's an English Labrador Retriever. I love reading Marley and Me, and I've got about eighty pages to go. I've been laughing at the antics of this dog, because my obsessively neurotic Weimaraner 2 year old dog, Tucker seems to be just the same. Mind you he never destroyed anything as a puppy, but his rambunctious behaviour, jumping up, slobering his water from the bowl, jumping into our shower, tracking mud in the house, chasing our year old siamese around until she freaks out on him, banging on doors if we leave him out of our room/bathroom/basement/outside etc. Its such a hillarious book, and I for one wouldn't want to see it made into a movie. There is just no dog who could fill in for Marley, no matter how good it was a being goofy. Those pictures in the book's front and rear are all the images that I need to think of Marley.

you can probably access your library online and pre-order this book. I always get my books ordered and/or checked online to see if they need to be brought in from another local library..So much easier!
Enjoy the read!

I live in Tampa Florida and i suppose you live in the USA -it is good for kids that love dogs--but a bit sad so be careful ok?

I just finished the book! So touching, I read some to my boyfriend, he got very teary, he used to have a lab like marley named Gemma, but his mum was forced to give her away when she remarried.

I have a 14 year old french pappion, he's very old now also has lost control of his bladder and eyesight.

We also had a 13 year old long haired chihuaha (sp?) But he sadly passed away about a week ago due to illness

I am now reading the book. There is a lot of Marley in Casey, our 10 yo Pyr-Mix as I believe there is in several of the furbys I have owned. Perhaps not to that extent. What sets Marley off from all other pooches is the witty style of the author, John Grogan, and the way he brings out and recalls the most insignificant of details and turns them into thought grabbing spell binding words for us who love and cherish our own dogs. It just makes us cherish them all the more. Thanks, John and Marley.

Wow, i never realised how popular the book was, even more so to the point where it's made this direct to video film highly sought after on ebay and everywhere else, lol.

For the record my dad gave me Marley And Me after finishing it and said i should try it, i read it all in one sitting over the course of about 4 or 5 hours, i couldn't put it down at all and had to see what marley did next. I was laughing my head off at the mishaps and mischief he caused (him dragging a table across a restaurant smashing everything as it went was priceless)

Brilliant book and although i don't usually get sad at films or books the ending chapters of Marley And Me drew quite a few tears from me, mostly because it reminded me of my dog which i lost recently.

His name was Cal (short for Calvin), he was a border collie who amazingly went on to be close to 19 years old, i'd had him since i was about 2 or 3 and loved him to bits, he eventually became too weak due to old age to stand up, in his last few months we had to help him get to his feet to go outside to the toilet but it got to the point where his body had just almost come to a halt so we had to take him to the vets and let him go. I cried my eyes out for days after losing him.

To add salt to the wound as such i lost my other border collie called kizzie (herself about 14 years old) about two weeks later due to a cancer on her liver, so she again had to be put to sleep. Again i was devastated for days afterwards, it was such a shock to lose her so quickly.

Reading Marley And Me made me realise that i'm not the only one who loved his dog(s) like family, so do a lot of you by the sounds of it too. Right now i've got a west highland terrier called Belle and another Border Collie called Henry who fits Marleys personality pretty well, he's crazy as hell (but also one of the most intelligent dogs i've ever seen in my life)

Just finished the book Marley and Me. I have to admit it did bring tears to my eyes. I have a 9 year old chocolate lab that I thought was the dumbest dog in the world. She doesn't hold a candle when it comes to the antics Marley pulled. But like Marley she doesn't have a mean bone in her body!!

Thanks John Grogan for sharing this story with us.

My story's a lot like yours. I have a REALLY dumb lab mix, but he's soo adorable. My dad saw the cover in the book store the second day we had our dog and little Marley looked so much like our Comet we had to buy it! So now it's a family favorite, and I had to research this movie!
