great sets + props

the sets and props in this film were awesome and must have been very expensive. they should have made two movies at once with the same bedrock sets - would have spread out the costs. there was a lot to be explored in their lives between this movie and the original. i thought this cast fit their parts much better than the the cast of the first movie and probably worked cheaper so a third film would not have cost that much.

that (the settings) plays a major part in why i like this franchise, there are only six years between the two flintstone movies, when you're a kid 6 years is an eternity, right, therefore i always took for granted they changed the cast because the original cast got too old, but now i figure it's because this doesn't reach the same movie quality level, i've never seen these people before except for in sit coms and one a lesser known baldwin brother, the 1994 movie had major stars as even halle berry just in a smaller part, don't get me wrong, the baldwin brother in this nails the voice of barney very well and everyone is doing a great job, and wilma is kind of hot, on second thought, as i watched this air again, i take back that about wilma being kind of hot, she is a freaking knockout and steals the movie, this actress never looked hotter than as a redhead in a cave woman outfit, i was just simply saying the stars were bigger and the movie felt heavier, the only actors i really know in this is the mel brooks' re occurring movie actor, who was a riot decades before this but he seemed to get unfunny parts later on and also looks like a different guy, and also i recognise that tv soap series actress, the settings and special effects in this is neat too, but i'm partial to the first because i saw it as a young boy, and in recent years i got the soundtrack to that as it has some groovy tunes, but really, tuning into these today as they air regularly on television in my country, the first is clearly greater, funnier and overall a more entertaining flick, this feels more like a tv movie.

your sight i should be used to by now,
but everyday keep in your luscious forms drown,
waiting for a lifebuoy thrown down,
distant from shore as your weather rock the boat,
i try to swim home you push me low,
in waves reaching heights unknown before letting me fall.

This movie looks a lot cheaper than the first somehow, even though it actually cost nearly twice as much (with presumably much less of the budget going to the less famous cast). Admittedly that's with six years of inflation, and during a transitional period for Hollywood with $100million+ budgets becoming common and computers becoming increasingly central in production. I don't know why it looks so much cheaper exactly, something to do with the increased use of CGI or lighting maybe. I think this had a better script than the first film, but in terms of production value it was a step down.
