'Good ole Boy/Riverboat pirates'

If you enjoyed this film, then you might also enjoy "Good Ole Boy, a Delta Boyhood" ( sometimes titled Riverboat Pirates) which is another film based on a book by Willie Morris about his childhood. The books and films "My dog Skip" and "Good Ole Boys" seem to be telling the same story from 2 different angles.

Mr Morris clearly mixed fact and fiction. Embellishment of his childhood, so to speak. "Good Old Boy" was largely fiction based on some perhaps true events.
The book "My dog Skip" is probably more true than the film.
