Because they said he lost his leg in the Spanish American War which was fought in 1898 and the movie takes place in 1942 if I recall. So what age is Bacon supposed to be portraying mess up on my facts because its been a while since I've seen this movie.
shareErm, haven't seen the movie yet (somebody sugested it and i was just checking it out) but i've only noticed references to Spain, and considering the time period presumed it was the Spainish civil war, for which a notable number of people went over to Spain to fight in.
