It saddened me also, I felt she should have died with her husband. Did not see the reason for her having to die not really knowing what happened to him and found her having to die without her true love unnecessary.

It was a very sad movie, it certainly focused on some pretty tragic characters. Although, the ending itself wasn't exactly sad - in some ways it was a relief.

It was made slightly happier at the end that the two of them found a moment of distraction from all the chaos in the kiss.
