Why in God's name does Ben Gazzara even have a credit in this movie. We see the back of his head for all of 2 seconds and we never see his face. He doesn't even have any lines either. It could have been the back of anybody's head on Earth... why was his head even in this movie?

You must have seen a badly edited version. In the theater and DVD versions, Ben Gazzara walks full-face into the scene wearing an apron and an amused smile when the police serve the warrant.
