Why didn't they review the tapes...

...of the opening heist to see who placed the briefcase underneath the bench in the gallery? Catherine noticed from the tapes that a briefcase had been put there but for some inexplicable reason doesn't ask for them to rewind to see who put it there? That would have revealed that Thomas Crown placed it there. Seems like a bit of a ridiculous plothole to me unless someone can explain it.

I completely agree. This is an absolutely stupid plothole. Moronic.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

when you go to the movies, do you take a notebook with you ?

it's only Moronic to those who saw the film for the first time in a movie theater in 1999 and spotted it then and there which is to whom a director is supposed to worry about

not those who watched it 50 times on cable vhs dvd laserdisc blu ray netflix frame by frame, think about it, talk about it on the internet with millions of others around the world till someone woke up one day a decade later and said "hey, wait a minute"

watch it a few more years and you'll find more "plotholes" like why did he put the painting back not knowing yet that he was just about to bump into the reason for putting it back in the first place in the manner that he did

oh no

Wow, just exactly how stupid are you?

It is the screenwriter's ENTIRE JOB to make their story as realistic as possible. They take months writing a movie like this. They are supposed to check for something like this. Then, when they're finished, they send the screenplay to a movie studio. The movie studio has people whose only job it is to read scripts. They're supposed to check for something like this. Then, if the movie gets the green light, they send the screenplay to a producer. Then the producer sends it a director. Then there are, oh, literally about 100 people on the set - other actors, stand-ins, assistant directors, cameramen, lighting people, sound people, electricians, technicians, set decorators, prop handlers. You know, EVERY SINGLE PERSON listed in the credits at the end of the movie.

And here, THEY ALL F@CKED UP. Big time. Not one of these 100 people noticed any problem with this. Or they did notice and didn't give two sh!ts.

That's why we call them plotholes. Because this doesn't take watching it 50 times, frame by frame. So no, I don't go to the movies with a notebook with me. That's not my job. THAT'S THEIR JOB.

I watched it for the first time tonight, on VHS, no less, and saw it right away. I've watched enough police procedurals and am a fairly logical enough person to wonder why they didn't follow up on this major lead. Somebody put it there, yet they don't try to find out who? C'mon.
