Milton was supposed to get the last piece of cake

That asian lady failed to pass the last piece of cake to Milton. He got hosed.

reply

Milton got disrespected on so many levels.

reply

I know! That was so irritating that she didn't pass it down!

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

reply

Why should he get cake, he's not even an employee?

reply

You are right, and i never thought that way

reply

Oh my gosh I love Milton xD

reply

That's the joke: He doesn't get a piece.

reply

That is the joke and the fact he isn't even an employee at the office.

The real purpose of the scene is to drop yet another anvil on office life. Milton has already figured out there's not enough ("The ratio of persons to cake slices is too high"), yet *he* is the one who gets screwed for buckling to the authoritative demand of his co-worker to be a "team player" and pass them down. And then, when it is clear he was right, does Mrs. SureImRight apologize and offer him her slice? Nope. She's not even thinking about it.

Long live office culture.

I was going to say the same thing, more or less, but you said it better than I ever could have.

The scene is very realistic for people who are introverted and who do not speak out against bad deeds happening against them.

I don't know if this is the intent behind the scene, but this certainly applies as well. A lot of people will take advantage of people who are socially awkward, or who are less assertive for whatever reason, because they know it is easier to get away with. I've had social anxiety my entire life and this has happened to me countless times.

Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhh, I'm gonna go ahead and say maybe they needed a slightly bigger cake there, but old Milton got the last laugh.
