OK if I'd seen Seven before I'd seen this then maybe I'd have a different view? I saw this on channel 5 a few years ago and thought it was great, I've been trying to get a copy ever since with no luck. Am I forgetting something? Is it really that bad?

This movie is amazing. Just because it has the seven deadly sins doesn't mean its a ripoff of Se7en. I liked this movie way more than 7. Its way different. He's building a new Jesus! That's awesome! 7 was just about a man who punished people for the 7 deadly sins. That's like saying because Dogma was about religion, Passion of the Christ ripoffed that! Plain and simple, this movie rocks, forget everyone who doesn't enjoy it, that's their problem.

Well, writing like "He removed his arm with surgical precision. This guy's no Jack the Ripper." doesn't do it any favours (nor does Se7en-like-raining-in-sunshine-etc cheappo style) but then again, it also has David Cronenberg playing a priest in it so, all in all, it's a pretty decent direct-to-DVD serial killer flick.

I feel the same way. I saw this very nice movie on tv a while ago and, for some reason, I always thought THAT was Se7en. When I found out it wasn't I had my hopes up for the real Se7en because that was the famous one. Turns out Se7en disappoints compared to Resurrection... Almost everything is done better in R! All except for Kevin Spacey (who cannot be surpassed when it comes to playing the villain).
shareNo, an as you can see from the ratings, 5.9 is actually pretty high score in IMDB. I gave it 8/10 because it's a very good tv-movie and it has Christopher Lambert.
