The death of pop music on UK televison

It is about 10 years since the last episode (not counting the xmas specials) of 'Top Of The Pops' was screened. In that time pop music on the main UK TV channels has been greatly diminished with only 'Later With Jools Holland and the talent shows 'The Voice' and 'The X Factor' showcasing pop music. Though 'The X Factor' is nothing but an ego trip for Simon Cowell. Any chance of a comeback for 'Top Of The Pops' seems unlikely given the disclosure of the crimes that were carried out by certain presenters of the show.
