Am I the only one who watches this over and over?

I LOVE this movie! I'm getting a 51" flat screen this week and Lake Placid will be the first movie I watch...True cult classic.

OP -,

I can watch it over & over again - not compulsively like Aliens, but it bears repeated viewings.

It's funny - Brendan Gleeson almost steals the show.
Bridget Fonda is sweet.
Bill Pullman has got that leading man thing going on.
And Oliver Platt is so obnoxious that he's almost attractive.

Brendan Gleeson steals the show. If its on, and I flip it on, I will watch to the end.

reply

I watch it once about every 2 years or so. Still enjoy it.

Watched it a dozen times on my DVD and still every time it is on. Genuinely funny movie with great characters and good special effects. How it gets such a low rating is beyond me. At least 6.5 - 7.

This is a laugh riot, funny as hell. Great, underappreciated film!

Save me from the people who would save me from myself

No, you are not alone. When I need a good laugh, I find it.

If we can save humanity, we become the caretakers of the world

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this! One of my favorites

It's only funny until someone gets hurt - then it's hilarious.

reply

It's our guilty pleasure. I love it and have seen it countless times. I watch it anytime I see it on and occasionally pop in the DVD. Very entertaining.

It just came on again today, and I watched it for at least the 25th time. It's a Cult Classic. The banter between Oliver Platt and Brendon Gleeson never gets old, and makes the movie.

Didn't care for the sequels but the original still makes me laugh.

reply

No - you are not the only one. I'm so glad that DVDs rarely wear out - this one and Bandits, in my collection, are always brought out to cheer people up on a rainy day (or night). Both under-rated - we belong to the same cult.

I watch it quite often. It is a cult classic like Steve Miner's Warlock, which I also like.
