Even if that man (unlike the mother who insists in a very systematic standard way) thinks...

... that what, in this perhaps not so frequent but still female on male intimate err 'assault' as such, is not to be considered or qualified quite as an 'r-word' (but then dictionary DEFINITION wise, it refers to all activity as such in this field that isn't consensual and is obtained by force, and we do see it here, or has that man never read a dictionary?), could he still at least...

Define it as 'sexual assault' and think HIMSELF that what happened to Matt in this movie WAS wrong and bad and as a victim, for one, he DOES need help too, no matter how many if at all (and sigh, from this is hard to escape) stereotypes he may have been exposed to in life.

Rather than simply dismissing it altogether or thinking its not that "big a deal" while his mother repeatedly doubts him (I myself, however, don't think I would especially today just somewhat shrug it off, even in that own way I still think its a serious matter etc) and wrongly assure the woman that this isn't "that" etc.

P.S. Notice how in a matter like this we often have doubts and stereotypes. If let's say murder happened, and what if that chick WAS responsible, how would those people including that man act? Oh and SPOILERS, speaking of that, SPOILERS ALERT - watch the ending to this movie too.

Besides as the mother said it being "about power" and also "without consent", the mother probably does know and at least has an idea than act like that even if carried out like this can still leave a person mentally and possibly to a certain extent even physically hurt, and that it is also a hurtful act overall.
