Movie?

Do you think it would be a safe bet to create a post-apocalyptic genre film based on this game? It would seem like it could possibly be a hit much like Mad Max 1, 2, and 3... Just a thought...

I think it would be a bad idea.

Fallout is good as it is (was, before F3 came out), and I think that F3 showed just how much commercialisation can screw up a good game.

I personally cannot remember a single game-based movie that turned out good, but there is a whole batch of ones that were just horrible attempts to reap some money off a title: BloodRayne, Tomb Raider, Super Mario, Doom, Hitman, Max Payne. All of them were awesome games, but the movies were horrible. And damn, I am already pissed off about F3 and am trying to erase it from my memory, I would hate for somebody like Uwe to completely soil Fallout.

Besides, Indy getting raped by Lucas and Spielberg (and aliens) was enough trauma for me.

Mindwarp was a pretty decent fallout-ish flick.

geez this thread is so ancient lmao

I think it would be awesome if a Fallout movie was in the works. It would have to be big budget, good cast, really funny and plenty of action and explosions. In my personal opinion it has to be based on the first Fallout game. The feeling of the movie should be epic yet comical. What is key is it shouldn't be 'based' on fallout, it should BE Fallout. Man if i had the moolah and the connects i think i could make a kick-ass Fallout movie.

Back to those of you who mentioned that it would be too much of a rip-off of Mad Max, i don't think thats a problem. It could be a blatant rip-off but if it pays homage and is funny i think its great. Not too many movies can pull that off.

I think only 1 Mad Max was even good (Mad Max: The Road Warrior), but Fallout 2 seems to have the village based entirely off of Mad Max 3 because of the village being in the jungle/mountains like those kids in the movie. Anyways would've been cool to have Mel Gibson's pyscho a$$ back to do a Fallout movie, but back when he was in Mad Max age.

On another note, another movie kind of like Fallout is 12 Monkeys (didn't like it too much, but had a bit of a Fallout feel to it).

I always thought a movie version would be successful if it had the right script, actors, and director, unfortunately movies based on games are usually awful, Doom, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat just to name a few, so a "Fallout" movie would most likely be a botched operation.
