Biggest Reaso This Movie is a Flop: Talking Humans

The original movie executed this perfectly. It's a really powerful scene when Taylor speaks up and the humans in that movie are the apes.

In this movie the humans seem just as smart as the apes (if not smarter), and there is no reason why they should be captivated.

Why didn't they just keep the humans mute? Number one reason I hate this goddam movie.

It was a different time than the original.

Swing away, Merrill....Merrill, swing away...

The film takes ideas from all of the Ape movies.
The talking humans come from the tv series/tv movies.

I have to agree with you. It gave the film more menace.

It's not the number one reason I dislike this film but I do hate if they HAVE to talk, like in BATTLE and the 1974 TV show, some or most humans act/talk in contemporary language and gestures completely breaking the film reality that I'm on an alien world and not in southern California.

Rewatching just now and the film definitely isn't bad as some claim - However, you're definitely correct that the talking humans are the major flaw.

There's simply no apparent reason for them to be inferior to the apes and being help captive. They obviously have the same intelligence as ourselves.
