Murder by unplugging makes no sense

This movie can't be 'realistic' in many ways, or there would not be any 'tension', because no one would actually die just from playing a video game and then stopping.

Unplugging should absolutely not kill someone, because all the 'plugging in' does, is manipulate your brains by feeding it 'signals', right? So why would stopping doing that kill you?

This movie tries to explain things in multiple separate and incompatible ways (not to mention how much the movie lies to the viewer anyway - just consider 'humans are no longer born' vs. 'there was a man born' - complete contradiction in its own dialogue!), so are the brains being 'stimulated', or do people's SOULS somehow separate from their body (and yet are able to return without the 'silver cord'??), and that's why unplugging kills the body because you are not in your physical body when it happens, and SOMEHOW you are not able to return to your physical body WITHOUT THE PLUG. Rrrriiiiiggghhhht.

This is not the only thing that makes no sense about the plug-murder, though.

My question is; WHY do they know that unplugging kills someone?

Did they practice it with some innocent people and thought to themselves, 'wow, dude, this is totally non-triumphant, unplugging actually kills people', and then kept doing it just to be sure?

Otherwise, HOW can Cypher be so sure it will kill people? How many people have been killed by unplugging them in these ships? Who has been going around just killing precious crew members by just unplugging them like it's nothing? Who would be so cruel, evil and callous, besides Cypher?

Also, in this 'hich-tech-future', they don't have ANY kind of 'firewall'-style protection procedures in place? 'Warning, unauthorized unplugging while someone is using, returning soul back to body automatically'..? No? Why not?

At least have a 'are you sure you want to unplug and thus murder this user? Y/N?' and then automatic alert message sent to Zion... No? WHY NOT?

I mean, why is everything so raw, basic and clunky, when with this future tech, it DEFINITELY shouldn't be? These people don't have any protocols in place for their safety, they don't have any streamlining of the tech, and 'all we need' ONLY means some hand guns.

Like, WHAT the F kind of sense does any of this make?

BEWARE! Avortac4 is a troll trying to waste everyone's time with such idiotic comments. Look at his posts. He doesn't think anything in any film makes sense. His post may seem like it makes sense in the first sentence or two. But he always quickly wanders off into a completely idiotic idea, and then writes a wall of text that makes no sense. And his sole purpose is to waste your time, thinking he's cute for doing so. Don't feed the troll. If you write a comment, you're giving this troll EXACTLY what he wants.
