What was the last great season of the TMNT series?

What was the last great season of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series for the cartoons?

reply

From what I've heard, Season 2. It might also be Season 8 (Last Season to have Rocksteady & Bebob, and Shredder and Krang as main villains).

reply

I have Seasons 3 and 4 and thought they were great seasons

reply

I liked them all really but I prefered Seasons 1-7.

8th season.

It wraps up the series fairly well. Giving us a story to believe in, a story that sets itself up where anything could happen. Good use of material. A final appearance of Rat King. I forget the 9th and 10th season even happened, as the 8th season already does a good job with ending it. Nothing spectacular, but pleasant closure.

The last SOLID season was Season 4. The last good season was Season 7.

Season 10 was watchable.

The 1994 season, which is the first Red Sky season. The series went darker, and the villians also got darker with Shredder having a more sinister voice. They had potential to make the Red Sky seasons good, but they blew it when they wrote off Shredder, Krang and the mutants and replaced them with Dregg and having Carter as a Turtle's aid. 1995, 1996 didn't do it much for me, because when they first aired back in those days, I turned it off when Dregg came on and I had to do another week without Shredder, who I didn't even know was already done for.

reply

They really should've had more Mirage characters. Baxter Stockman, Leatherhead, the Rat King. There was a huge backlog of enemies, and they just went and created uninspired new foes for the Red Sky episodes.

I've started season 5... Have to say first 3 seasons are better then 4 & 5 in a big way

reply

The CBS episodes were never as good as the first three seasons. However, Season 7 was a huge improvement over seasons 4-6. Too bad they squandered all the potential they got back on track with that season by turning the show darker.

Was season 7 when they were in Europe? Those weren't very good episodes at all. Only about half that season was any good.

RIP Ultimate Warrior. You will be missed.

reply

Despite airing in Season 7, I still consider the European Tour episodes as part of Season 4. When I watch the show on DVD, I always watch those eps right after the first episode of Season 4.

If they aired as part of season 4, why are they released with season 7 on DVD?

RIP Ultimate Warrior. You will be missed.

reply

I don't know why they were delayed, but USA aired them first run on the Cartoon Express when they aquired the show after it left syndication, so they ended up airing in the 7th season. But continuity wise, they're supposed to be in Season 4, right after 'Plan 6 From Outer Space'.

They were weak, any way you look at it.

RIP Ultimate Warrior. You will be missed.

For the 1987 series, Seasons 1, 8-10 were the only good seasons. Seasons 2-7 were awful.

For the 2003 series, Season 5. Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers can go die in a fire.

But thankfully, Turtles Forever was a good send-off to both series.

reply

how could you not like Seasons 2-7? I thought 2 to 5 were great seasons, still haven't seen seasons 6-7 yet.

reply

Season 8. Too bad it wasn't longer because they had a lot of potential for some good stories that they eventually wasted by bringing in Dregg and Carter.

reply

Carter I'll admit was annoying, but I still don't understand why everyone hates Dregg. He was a refreshing change of pace from 8 straight seasons of Shredder being an incompent, bumbling doofus. Seriously, the only thing he did right was blowing up the Channel 6 building.
