Why did Fox break up with Patricia?

Something that always confused me as I guess it wasn't spelled out clearly. Of course Patricia had her flaws and was a bit superficial, but was it really her "Where are my tic tacs" comment that crossed the line?

Yeah, Hanks' and Ryan's characters aren't the most loyal. They both have steady significant others, and both ditch them.

Beware someone who cheated on their previous significant other to be with you. Eventually they are likely to do it again.
