Favorite Wes Anderson Movies

What are yours in order? I'm going to start watching most of his movies, so your posts will help me decide what to get. Thanks

OOOoooOOO THAT'S A BINGO!

I just got done watching "Rushmore" actually. So current rankings would be something like:

1. The Darjeeling Limited
2. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
3. Bottle Rocket (Short)
4. Fantastic Mr. Fox
5. Rushmore
6. Hotel Chevalier (Short)

The ranking gets a bit hazy after the first two though.

This is proabaly annoying but I don't really like his other movies so much. And I love Rushmore soooo much! Somehow he never got up to this levels again but I hope he will. I suppose I quite like his last movie but that is still not on the levels of Rushmore.

I guess I believe Wes is most successful when trying to capture the imagination of youth (whether it be the imagination of a teenager resembling someone well beyond his years, or the more unadulterated wonder of a child in love). Perhaps a child's imagination is somewhat indicative of Wes' film style: out of the ordinary, less borders, less understanding, more possibilities and more colour.

Rushmore is #1!

Yeah, this is my favorite, even though I have liked a lot of the others. It seems to be a little more from the heart and less self-consciously trying to be a quirky "Wes Anderson" movie.

It's interesting when you have an adolescent and middle-aged character in a movie that you can both really relate to. As an adolescent, I can relate to being stubbornly optimistic (or quixotic) like Max, even though a lot of the youthful energy of ALL adolescents seems to go to waste in many ways. Then when you get older you tend to become sad and wistful like Herman Blume, even if you have done all the "right" things and become successful, because is never exactly how you imagine it to be in the innocent days of youth. . .

The Royal Tenenbaums
Rushmore
Moonrise Kingdom
Fantastic Mr. Fox
