They don't explicitly specify where the movie takes place but Preston is seen using a Bell Atlantic phone booth. Bell Atlantic operated in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia, as well as Washington, DC.

It's supposed to be Huntingdon Valley, PA. The writer was from that area and Melissa Joan Hart is holding a Plymouth WhiteMarsh HS yearbook. Its right near Philly
