She's a tomboy who can hang out platonically with guys as well as girls, but has only ever had an interest in dating boys--especially her on-again-off-again thing with Bart. They never "went there" by having a gay character in the BSC, although the series tried to touch on EVERY other "issue" and kind of person, and EVERYTHING else that ever existed in the universe (which is why I love it so much! It's timelessly relatable, got something and someone for everybody to love...) Many of us have moments where we make sweeping derogatory statements about the opposite sex--doesn't indicate our orientations. One of my favorite books in the series is Mallory Hates Boys & Gym, but Mal's clearly not a lesbian either.
In the interest of time, let's agree to disagree--even though I'm always right.
