this movie has everything that a bad movie has in it

there is not one redeeming quality in this movie. the child actors do an awful job of acting, the adults overact, the plot sucks, and you can find mroe cliches in this movie than you can in any other movie.

anyone else agree?

reply

no.

But [Rupert Grint] said: "I would date a fan, I don't have a problem with that"

reply

Why do you bother to come here? Since you dont have the most basic sense of judgement?

FYI. NO one would agree with your F... S...idea..

It is a very wonderful moive that can touch your heart and make you cry.

You should go to a mental hosptial to check your mental health.

This movie rocks!!!

reply

No it doesn't. Simon Birch is one of the most annoying characters I've ever watched in a movie.

"Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me."

reply

yeah this movie sucks really really hard. like pornstar hard. and the character simon birch creeps me out more than a little bit too.

reply

You must of seen a different Simon Birch then. :|

I look back at some of the young actors in the 1990s and think they were amazing. Now, in 2007 it just seems that there is either lack of major roles as a child and even when there is, it just doesn't seem as good.

i would swing at an 0-2 slider. why wouldn't you? if the count was 0-3 i could understand but 0-2? its like saying don't swing on the first pitch, its just stupid if you can hit it and know you can make solid contact you swing, just on an 0-2 you getta be a lil more picky then any other count.

reply

The count was 2-0 not 0-2. The balls always go first then the strikes when listing the count. Oh, and it was a fastball not a slider.

I think you are not a very bright person or did not watch this movie very closely. It is very obvious that Simon cared so much for Judd's character b/c his own mother and father cared so little for him and she was the only one to show him motherly affection like that. And he was NOT a murdering midget, what a callous, heartless thing to say. He hit a ball for the very first time and it was a foul ball and happened to hit her in the head. Like he had any control over where that ball was going when he swung the bat. And the part about the little girls breasts, I guess you've never been a 12 year old little boy going through puberty. Plus he was the same age as her so it's not as if he was a 30 year old man feeling up a little girl. I think this was a very heartwarming movie w/ a good message to it and I seriously think you're the one that's SICK!!!

The acting for at least half the movie was bad by most.
It was beautifully shot. I will give it that.
It was overly sentilmental, especially the end in simons last speach. He should have just died on the bus.

The movie had much potential, but did not deliver. The characters that were susposed to be quirky seemed highly unnatural, and it seemed to be trying to tap into the same feeling that was felt in forrest gump. And I must say, I burst out laughing in the end when it went from the gravestone to Jim Carreys face smiling gently down at the camera.

I will say the death scene of simon had terible acting by simon but great acting by Joe.

The script just wasn't well written either. It seemed like it coukdv'e used a few more rewrites.

Not one person can be seen 'feeling on underage girls boobies' in this movie. It was weakly implied, but never committed. The movie was still sick, though. Who wants to sit and watch a total retard act so poorly for nearly 2 hours?

reply

I have never seen "mroe" cliches in this movie than any movie ever forever tonight. already.

reply

Your right about the cliches.

Most other movies have a dwarf accidently killing his best friends mother with a baseball.

All of them have that same character himself die in the end.

The priest actually being the boys father. Seen that a million times.

Oh no! Not the "win the boys over by giving them a stuffed armadillo" routine again!

A dwarf touches the breast of a girl he likes. Again, thats been done to death. It happens like 3 times in The Wizard Of Oz alone.

must've been dozens more cliches.

ATTENTION! The above comments were intended as sarchasm.

Do you think he wants some cheese?

I don't know if it's full of cliches, but the parts where the trees sway as Simon passes are truly awful.

reply

This movie should be remembered simply for having the greatest death in cinema history. FOUL BALL!

reply

this was a great heart felt movie...u are just a bitter person...and no, i didn't see it coming that the priest was his father.

reply

I imagine it's crap. I haven't seen it but I read the book. Everyone says the book was way better and it was just a pile of piss.

reply

This movie is amazing!!!

Who are you, a skin head, hateful of jews, blacks, orientals, and dwarves? This movie was brillantly done. The characters were authentic, the acting by the children was better than most of the adult actors out there. Joseph Mazzello's character (Joe) at the bedside of Simon (played incredibly by Ian Michael Smith) had the crew in tears. This is one of Joseph Mazzello's best roles as a child actor. Ian played Simon because that's who he is, how much more redemming can you get? Bad acting? Overacting? You have no sense of the theater arts at all. If you're not a skin head, perhaps a child hater. If none of those, there's only one reason you bashed the movie. You didn't get a part in it, or are simply jealous that these kids can act and act so well that they (aside Ian who only made this movie) get parts in other movies. Have you seen his filmography? Wake up.. and shut up, because this movie desevered more award recognition.

I definitely agree with everything that you said above. The OP was really unecessary, I respect your opinion but in no way will I ever agree with it. This movie was touching, the acting was amazing, and for the person who said they laughed when Jim Carrey smiled gently down at the grave is sadly troubled. This movie will make you cry to matter how many times you watch it. I love it.

What a sad & cynical life you must lead ... this was a lovely movie, and I cry everytime I watch it. The actors are perfect for this movie.

I thought this movie was great! And the kids did a great job at acting!

I think the acting was decent overall. However the screenplay is pretty lame plus the story is soooo cheesy, sappy, corny, soapy, melodramatic, manipulative, schmaltzy (add your favorite synonymous here).
It could have been a decent movie but the incredible amount of cheese included, ruined the movie for me.

5/10
