Nicole de Boer's acting in this film is shockingly bad

Nicole de Boer is a competent actress, but if I'd only ever seen her in this, I certainly wouldn't think so.

In this film, her acting is utterly incompetent.

I don't get how that works?

Can a bad director make a competent actress appear as if she is incompetent?

Was de Boer going through a tough time in her life while filming this?

What's the explanation for why her acting is so shockingly bad in this film?

reply

A good/bad director really can make an actor live up to their potential or drag them down into the pits of *beep*

reply

Didn't find her bad at all really don't know what your on sir.

reply

I'm sure your acting would be just as bad if you woke up one day and found yourself inside a giant maze of cubes with death traps in various cubes, somewhere.

She was fine.

reply

what do you mean? she actually plays very well here.

i'd say Holloway and maybe Quentin (sometimes) sounded pretty bad during their monologues.

reply

Only Holloway was cringe in my opinion but it might have been intentional in-universe as her character was supposed to be a loner conspiracist type.

reply

The only other thing I've seen her in is DS9 and she did alright in my opinion. I couldn't really stand her character but she did a good job with bringing Ezri to life.

She was in one of the best New Outer Limits episodes titled "Quality of Mercy." The episode was somewhat like Cube. Anyways I liked her acting there and in Cube.

^ Quality of Mercy is a GREAT episode, Nicole slays her role

reply

Definitely. I 100% agree with you
