Did Natalie Portman not like Star Wars?

Just to say, I love Queen Amidala, I think she's bad ass and in The Phantom Menace she has some of the best costumes/outfits in all the movies (I know that's not really much depth as a character but makes her memorable).

I swear I read Natalie Portman "regretted" doing Star Wars, or something to that effect.

Does anyone know any more about this?

I can believe she didn't enjoy making the films, which involved spending years in front of green screens while the director obsessed about the CGI and lived up to his rep as the worst actors' director alive.

And it's not like she got enough glowing reviews to make it all worthwhile...

"You really mean that, Tychus?"
"Nah. I was just kiddin'."

Apparently, she didn't particularly mind it, but her career took a brief hit as a result. This was not uncommon for actors who appeared in such movies. Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher couldn't escape being typecast as Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia. Christopher Reeve could never escape his Superman persona. The cast of the original Star Trek were permanently associated with their roles, etc. And there was still some of this attitude even now, but studios are more aggressively churning out superhero movies so if an actor gets typecast as appearing in such a film, they may still find work.

Time to make up a new signature.

She said in an interview she was excited to do this movie and it was a good opportunity. She still seemed like she like her character in the interviews for ROTS, but probably not as phenomenal as she (and everyone else) expected.

As flawed and silly as prequel moments are, the movies are actually received well by the vast majority. Portman has been in many excellent movies since. I just wonder what her kids will say when they find out when their mother was having fun with Mila Kunis in Black Swan...

she said it almost killed her career, it was hard getting a role after, but that's all I know

I heard the same thing but I don't know any more: I'm sure she doesn't regret the paychecks though...

I don't know much about it, but I don't see her returning the money she made from it. So much for her "regrets".
