How in the eff is this a 6.8?

One of my favorite movies. What were these people watching?

reply

I think the major issue with the movie is the pacing. Several of the reviewers said they fell asleep during the film. Whether this is a problem with the movie or the viewers is an individual matter. I found it a bit slow, but I still enjoyed it.

I'm looking forward to watching it again. For any one thing that was wrong with it, I feel there were several to make it entirely worthwhile.

The amazing this about this movie for me is the way is changes tone effortlessly. That's hard to do. To go from a comedy to a detective story to a love story amazes me.

reply

hmm, I think it helped that I was able to make the connection to the Sherlock Holmes story, but still, I don't think the pacing was that bad.

Short answer: Because there is no Law, and there is no justice.

God only knows. It shouldn't be any higher than a 2 or a 3.

Said by one that gave The Usual Suspects a 4. 👺

I don't love her.. She kicked me in the face!!

Hey it's up to a 7 now.

It should always be above a 7.

reply

I agree. It's still only a 7. I'd give it an 8. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Watched it today. It had been a few years since I last watched it. Reminds me when I discovered Kim Dickens. Loved her in Deadwood. Bittersweet ending. "passion is the enemy of precision."

It takes a moment but it’s a great movie.

I guess if it requires you to turn on your brain 🧠 it’s not that good to some people…?

i gave it 7

What i found annoying (and may be other viewers) is actually the detective's overly erratic, weird and "shy" behavior; i would have much preferred if he was more normal, every time having him being weird and shy made him very annoying in my eyes; i like slow movies and don't mind unusual behavior or characters in movies (like Rain Man or Forrest Gump) but here I thought it didn't fit well.
