How close was Patrick Stewart's take on Professor X to the comic books?

This video says that Stewart's version of Charles Xavier actually leans more heavily into his Jean-Luc Picard persona from Star Trek.

If you go back and read the old Chris Claremont written comics, then you'll see that Xavier is actually kind of an asshole. That isn't to say that Xavier like Picard wasn't capable of being a kind, caring, and wise leader. It's just that Xavier of the Claremont era comics (again so says the Captain Midnight video) was more than often, a prickly and ego-driven man not so dissimilar from that of his arch-rival Magneto. This Xavier was also often quick to anger and even quicker to judgement.
