Bad message

The message I got from Meryl's speech about her husband sent what I consider a bad one. She's condoning her husbands actions and all because of the time going by. I don't like that. I wouldn't spend my life with a man who did those things just because it was easier or for some weird sense of love and loyalty. That to me is all bull crap!!

I agree with you concerning the part she's wrong, and that love never shines in such a world, except in case the one who cheated is deeply sorry for what they'd done, but other than that I am completely with you. I disagree, however, that this was a wrong " message " because the movie doesn't direct you to do this or that, it just shows you some perspectives, and how some people think. Actually many people will disagree with what you and I're saying in real life. Many are fully aware that their spouses are cheaters and they go on, many meet the love of their lives while being married to another person and the make the wrong choice and stick with it.

Exactly! I don't want every movie I see to show perfect people who always make the best decisions and send the proper messages. That's not how real people are. It's much more endearing to witness a character with both strengths and flaws. And as someone else here said, the whole point of the story is that the daughter stops needing her father's approval and realizes he's a flawed person who needs her help.

I agree. I hate when people make excuses for their cheating husbands. A self-respecting woman should never choose to stay with a cheater.
