Am I the only one who think Meryl was more like a supporting role?

I mean i love her but Renée was definitely the lead.Maybe Meryl should have been nominated in the category of best actress in a supp. role.Extraordinary performance, though.

I agree, I think this movie was more from Renee's character viewpoint.

edit: I do think that Meryl out-acted Renee, and maybe that is why Renee is overlooked a bit in this movie because Meryl was just so great.

I agree, I think Renee Zellweger was lead. Meryl Streep was supporting.
If she had been nomminated for supporting actres she would have won.

I think she had enough screen time to take her out of the supporting category criteria. They seemed like co-starring roles in this.

It's just like The Devil Wears Prada. But Meryl seems to dominate most movies that she's in, so it's easy to see her as the lead while she's really just supporting.

Her scenes were spoken from the softness of the heart, endearing. Renee' and William spoke from the sadness of the heart, heart-breaking. All were exceptional.

It was Renee's movie -- and she stole the show from everyone, even Meryl.

I forgot what a great, understated actress Renee can be.

Streep probably took it despite that because
- she got to play someone who was dying
- she got to play against her usual type
