Beautifully shot

That is about the only redeeming quality about this film. It almost makes me like it. The other day it came on TV while I was folding my laundry. I just put it on mute. Gorgeous.

An early scene where all the children are running through the woods with their fairy wings backlit -- stunningly beautiful.

Just for the record, I'm female.....at least, last time I checked...

Many shots are beautiful but many are dark and boring. Seven was a dark and boring movie, too. I've seen NIN videos with more imagination.

It was beautifully shot, I agree. This movie had SUCH potential! Between the great cinematography, the interesting set up, the many allusions to Hitchcock (my favorite director), and the capable cast, I thought this could have been an amazing film. Sadly, it becomes a tangled mess of fairy tale/thriller/fantasy/ character study. It's too bad, because I enjoy many tidbits of this film. I love the shot in which Benning reunites with her daughter underwater. That would have been the perfect final shot, but it wasn't to be. Sigh.

Agree... it had great potential, was beautifully shot but got overly convoluted. And shocking to me was a rare bad performance by RDJ.

It's his best role ever. Last twenty minutes just plain psycho class.

Darius Khondji is a amazing DP. The reference to Se7en was a great one because David Fincher has colloborated with Khondji on a few projects. I think In Dreams is underrated. It has a surreal quality to it. Wasn't this RDJ last movie before rehab?

reply

Agreed. The movie isn't the greatest but I enjoyed the whimsical visuals throughout like the fairy scene as Prelude mentioned. I liked the underwater scenes too. They were really different.
