Creepy Seth

He looked and acted creepy. I was surprised that Maggie chose to go with him after their second encounter at the library. He could have been a stalker, serial killer. The questions he asked her certainly would raise the suspicion that there was something abnormal about him.

For her to be throwing herself at him on the third encounter, to a creepy man, she must have had a death wish. For her to be falling for a creepy man that she hardly knew; my cynicism of 'love' grew deeper. He looked even more creepy, like an escaped mental patient when he became human and ran around, shoe-less,looking for Maggie.

From his encounter with Nathaniel he also seemed to be a rookie angel too as he was unaware of things about angels. Then for him to give up a heavenly existence for a temporal earthly existence, especially the fallible human love, he certainly was an angel that had lost his marbles. The grass certainly looked greener on the other side, until you cross over.

Crappy ending. The author could have made a better one to get his messaage across.

I tried acting like him with this girl I like. I followed her around everywhere dressed in a black trench coat and never stopped staring at her.

I now have restraining order

I came here just to say this. I hadnt seen it in a long time, I put it on and was like, OH NO! The stare and his stance +the all black was enough to creep me out even if I were acting.

There is something called charisma, instict etc
Seth is an angel, theres no way anyone would get bad vibes being around one no matter how "creepy" it seems.
Weird? yea maybe, bad feeling? unlikely... unless its a christopher walken angel

It's a fantasy story. I've seen men who act like this in real life actually, although not exactly like this but I've known men to find ways to be around the person they love.

Everybody is entitled to my opinion.

The only thing he seemed unaware of was their ability to choose to fall. Even Cassiel was unaware of that, though. I guess they don't spread the word. But other than that, what was it he seemed unaware of?

reply

He was totally creepy, as would be an Angel who appeared as real. But intuitively when many people see them they aren't afraid. So it makes sense.

And yeah, his watching her in the bathtub was way creepy. The rest of a lot of his behavior seemed to be like he was surprised at his own fascination with her. I'm still not sure why OP thought he was a rookie who didn't know much. He and Cass just shared experiences, and the only thing they were both unaware of was their ability to choose to become human.

I just rewatched this last night, and my husband was seeing it for the first time. We actually paused the movie and discussed this aspect, and agreed that, in a human, his behaviour would be downright stalkerish, but, as an angel, he wasn't having sexual feelings for her, he was just fascinated by her, and trying to understand. I also think Maggie felt comforted by his presence as an angel, and that's why he didn't make her go running the other direction. There are times where it seems like Maggie is struggling with how easy she feels around Seth, and she doesn't understand it but goes with her gut anyway.

This is my take on it too. I think Maggie knew from the start that there was something unusual about him, therefore the stalky behavior became less of a focus than the fact that this didn't seem like your usual creepy guy.
