A wonderful film!

I have been a Christian Bale fan for quite some time, and although I will admit that some of his films are less-watchable than others, he rarely misses. I live in a very rural area, and access to smaller films like ATLA is limited, so I was ecstatic when it played at 1 AM on the Independent Film Channel. Perhaps because I was tired, but more likely because it was so stunning, I was in tears from beginning to end. The performances were brilliant, and I gained more respect for Bale for taking the challenge of Bobby on. This film has become one of my favorite Bale films, and I think it deserves more recognition. Kudos to the cast and crew!

I think I would have enjoyed it more, if had been MORE about the animals and less about that fat man...this film has utterly confused me. Besides that, I give props to Christian for tackling a role that most actors would have not even considered. That is what makes Christian a true actor. And I enjoyed seeing all the little animals, it truely saddens me how the "car", is the main culprit of deaths to these little creatures. :-(

Talking about the 'Fat': I think that he is one of the most horrible villains I've ever seen in a movie. The man is really terrifying (and I'm not a very sensitive person)!! This is coming from a real horror-fan: the 'Fat' has achieved something most movie-villains (like Michael Myers, Freddy Krüger, Hannibal Lecter etc) fail to do: he has managed to give me the creeps!!! Kudos to Daniel Benzali!

Btw: I really love this movie! Bale and Hurt are just amazing actors, their performances are nothing short of brilliant!!!!

Well...I just saw it for the very FIRST time yesterday (needed to kill some time before the midnight show of TDK-excellent movie btw!)

Oh my lord...I loved it...Bale captured Bobby so well...espeically the crying scenes and his comaradierie with John Hurt's "Mr.Sommers"...

I hated the FAT-but I gotta say kudos for Daniel Benzali (I recognized him from the TV crime show "Murder One") for his chilling performance as well...

I am a huge Christian Bale fan, in fact he's my favorite actor, and I've seen more than half of his films, but I think this was his best performance. It was Oscar worthy if you ask me, and if not that, at LEAST Golden Globe worthy. I found the whole production to be truly underrated and overlooked.

I love this film. I agree with those who say it was an Oscar-worthy performance for Bale. Ditto for John Hurt and Daniel Benzali. Just excellent performances all around.

I'd always liked Christian Bale, his looks, etc...not too much on his acting abilities, until I saw such range in this flick. "Bobby" is such a pure soul, and he broke my heart. "Mr. Summers" is an enigma until the very end, where you find that he is another honest soul. My tears flowed from the beginning to end, from "The Fat" killing Bobby's only friend, his mouse...to the heartbreak I could actually feel Bobby living through when his new best friend left him as well. Why this film didn't get any recognition it deserved is beyond me. Screw the Golden Globe or a lame award like that...Bale deserved an Oscar for his range, his compassion, and his believability. Christian Bale, since this movie, has become my favorite actor for good reason.
Those of you who would like a slower, in-depth real cryfest of a flick should purchase this one...forget renting, you'll want to see it again and again.....
keep an eye out for more Bale pictures...he's not all "American Psycho"!

Just saw this and have to agree with everyone. What a wonderfully moving gem of a film! Christian Bale was great, as was John Hurd.

I saw this movie a few days ago, just happened to run into it on TV, and loved it. It's really good, original, moving. Great acting too (even though I saw it dubbed).
