How did Wei Lin know where the Devonshire was?

I'm watching this movie again and while James Bond was able to calculate the position of the Deconshire wreck with the stolen US encoder, it doesn't explain how Wei Lin was able to find it. Did she follow or track James when he flew and dropped in? I was wondering if anyone knew the answer.

The Mig that didn't get shot down knew where the ship was sunk. They had correct "Chinese" coordinates of the wreckage site and Lin works for the Chinese government I think... Only the British got tricked, by making them think that they were in international waters. That's what Carver did with his encoder.

However it is strange, because later we find out that the waters are part of 'Nam and not China. So both of them were wrong I guess. The Chinese do claim "the south China Sea" nonetheless :) . It's been in the news lately too.

The name's Bond, James Bond.

This makes sense, but I'm also very confused about how the wreckage ended up being in Vietnam in the end. It doesn't make sense that Chinese fighters would be able to pass over there, and that there was no military response from Vietnam to either those fighters or the British vessel. This was a huge oversight by the writers.
