Are American cinemas really like this during horror movies?

I've honestly never seen a horror movie in the theater but I highly doubt it. Althought it was an advanced screening near (or on) a college campus, so anything is possible lol.

no. they never have been. this movie is exaggerated and over the top.

thats like asking if every toilet in scotland is like the toilet in trainspotting.

Only midnight screenings of campy horror classics that everyone has seen. I think the fanfare would make scary flicks a lot more fun.

Of course not, and certainly not for a horror film that no one has even seen before...Let alone one that is based on a true story.

They were acting like it was the next Star Wars Film.

I've personally never been to a theater that was anything like that...in fact most of the theaters I've been to here in the states are pretty strict about not talking and turning off your cell phone.

But it was a premier right next to a college campus...so that could explain it

Of course not. They deliberately went over the top with it for the sake of humor and also to help illustrate the desensitization of the audience and the irony of that considering what happens to Maureen.

it was a sneak peek showing on a college campus, so the excitement is obvious. But it's also exaggerated.
