The making of Phoenix

Hi everyone, Phoenix is one of my all time favourite movies. Does anyone know about when and where this movie was filmed??..I mean was it all filmed in Phoenix and if so where abouts? like that cafe scene at the end where Harry dies looked like it was filmed off into the desert somewhere??. Was the movie a big budget film??, There was some superb actors in it and im sure Ray Liotta and Anthony Lapaglia wouldn't have come cheap. Any information about the making of this film would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

I'm watching this movie now. Have lived in Phoenix area for 22 years. I haven't recognized anything in this movie yet. IMDB says it was filmed in PHoenix, but i think - like most movies - it was filmed in CA.

I live in Phoenix as well, and I sort of recognize a couple of the places in the movie. The scene in the beginning I think was filmed in South Mountain Park possibly. There trailer/hideout looked like it was outside of Cave Creek; and from what I've heard, the building used as the police precinct was an old building downtown that has been closed for years. I recognized a Glendale street sign in the scene outside the abortion clinic. The final scene looked like it was shot off of 51st Avenue down south towards the Res, and the scene where Liotta and Piven are driving away from that child molesters house looked like it was on Camelback Rd way out west in Goodyear.

Yeah right! And the room where Katie was doin' the Lieutenant looked "sort of" like my bedroom!

Aside from the aerials between scenes; none of it was in Phoenix.

LOL! I thought the same thing. I live in Phoenix; my husband is a native and recognized nothing. The diner near the beginning of the movie has a clear sign in front that reads "Johnie's Broiler." I Googled that, and the only hit is for a famous restaurant in Downey, CA. (http://www.seeing-stars.com/ImagePages/JohniesBroilerPhoto.shtml)

Disappointing!

The coffee shop is Johnnie's in L.A. (the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax). I grew up in L.A.- a lot of the movie was filmed there. I have also spent lots of time in Phoenix and I didn't see anything that I really recognized.

the previous poster is correct, it's the Johnnie's in Downey
