Was this movie any good???
I've read a few Dean Koontz novels, and I'm a fan of horror films. That being said, I was wondering if you'd recommend this. I really don't want to waste my time if this is a 'crapfest'.

shareIt is a crapfest. It is a bad cross between "It" and "The Blob".
shareI watched the movie again last night and now I remember a lot more about it.
Things do start to go downhill after the first 40 mins. The characters in the movie are also quite poorly written and the script is not that great either. It's a shame the writers couldn't find a way to squeeze a few more elements from the book into the film. A better script would've worked wonders too.
Despite those flaws I still find it creepy and entertaining.
I agree, did you also watch it on tv in the uk?
shareIt's currently available on Netflix.
Let the Wookiee win
Nope, it's not a good movie. And it has just awful sound mixing. Or at least, Netflix has a terrible copy of it.

First DK is one of my favorite (current) writers.
Its tragic that no producer/director team, can seem to get a handle on what it would take to bring them successfully to the screen. Think of him, as the anti-Tom Clancy.
As for the movie, can;t say----yet. It starts in about an hour. Encore-suspense
Oh, it certainly is a crapfest. The dialogue and the acting are horrendous for the most part. That said, the movie has some trashy entertainment value, and the atmosphere especially in the first half is actually pretty decent.
Could any hell be more horrible than now and real?

Yes, it's good. It has a very strong opening 30 minutes, the it kinda slows down, once the military shows up. It's still very intense in some spots and the score is awesome.
