Anyone else see this in theaters?

I was in the 9th grade I believe, and I had read the book, and my friend and I went to watch it at the 5:00PM show the Friday that it opened. His mom dropped us off. The theater only had about 7 people total in it. About 5 minutes in when they find the housekeeper's body, I realized the movie wasn't going to be good. It was the editing and weird way the scene unfolded that tipped me off. It just felt...bad! Over the next 20 minutes, my concerns were confirmed. We left the theater when it was done, and my friend said he thought it was "...okay..." but I was very let down. The movie completely bombed at the box office that weekend and was gone within 2 weeks, and was playing at the local discount dollar theater within 4 weeks of the opening.
