Who is the narrator?

In the end he says "This is the story Lucinda gave to my Grandfather, and I give it to you."

My guess was that the narrator is supposed to be Oscar's great grandson, but we see Ralph Fiennes, who is also credited as Oscar's great grandson, in the very end on a boat with his daughter.
The narrator is voiced by a different actor Geoffrey Rush. Is he supposed to be a different person then? ://

reply

Yes, the narrator is Oscar's great-grandson. He says so at the beginning of the movie. He looks like Oscar and is played by Ralph Fiennes, but has a completely different voice, to show that he is a completely different person. A modern Australian rather than a 19th-century Englishman.

The narrator was played by Geoffrey Rush.
